ASSIGNMENTS: Students will be assigned to teams of four for completion and submission of all assignments except for the final project proposal which will be an individual effort. Teams will be formed during the first week of class. Homework assignments will be assigned throughout the semester. These assignments may be from the textbook and/or class handouts or postings on Blackboard. Assignments will be due at the dates and times announced in class or posted on Blackboard for each specific assignment. Each team will submit one hardcopy of their work for each assignment. Assignments may be requested via e-mail or Blackboard. Submission requirements will be included in each assignment.
Late assignments will have scores reduced by 10 points for each day (or part thereof) following the due date. Some assignments may not be accepted late and will receive a score of zero. No assignments will be accepted after a week from the due date. Assignments and other information for students will be posted on Blackboard. Email messages will be directed to the addresses on Blackboard. It is the students' responsibility to check information posted on Blackboard regularly for any changes, and for forwarding of messages.
RECORD KEEPING: Students must keep copies of all assignments and other work submitted. Graded work that has been returned to the student should also be kept until the final grade for the course has been received. In the case of team assignments, each team member should keep individual copies of all work.
QUIZZES: Short quizzes will be given randomly at the start and/or end of class periods, usually based on the reading assignment for that day or material covered in the previous class. The lowest quiz score will be dropped and the remaining will be used for the quiz grade calculation. Attendance will be based on how many quizzes were taken out of the total number of quizzess given with no quizzes dropped.
Tests: Tests will be multiple choice in format. Studens will take all tests and exams. There will be no make-up tests.
An exception will be made only for: (1) serious illness (e.g. hospitalization) or (2) a scheduled job requirement forcing you to be beyond 150 miles from VCU at the time of the examination. The instructor must approve a letter from your employer or supervisor stating the nature of your absence before the test date. In case a test must be missed due to illness or travel, as described above, the final exam score will be used as the score of the missed test and will count as the make up test and will be included in the course grade calculation.
